Huggo’s is a casual dining spot in Kona town where you can sit at an outdoor table and feel the sand on your feet while watching a beautiful sunset with their unobstructed ocean views. Huggo’s opened in 1969 and has maintained its reputation as a “premier Kona restaurant for fresh seafood, oceanfront ambiance, and casual elegance.”

This family run establishment is a bustling go to for locals looking for a fun atmosphere and thouthtfully prepared dishes with an authetic Hawaiian taste. Jackie Rey’s Kona location is more of a casual dine in eatery, while their Hilo location has a bit more of an upscale feel with it’s high vaulted ceilings and prestigious downtown location in a historic former bank building.

One of the newest additions to the Kona dining scene is the oceanfront restaurant Kai Eats & Drinks. Kai offers everything from burgers, pizza, and tacos to beers and mai tais! Enjoy sunset views while you watch the surf break along the coastline and sip on one of their 48 craft beer options. Kai also has a “grab and go” espresso bar for breakfast and a latte!

Island-inspired cuisine, creative cocktails and a “toes in the sand” ambiance, Lava Lava Beach Club has an unbeatable oceanfront location in Waikoloa next to famous A-Bay.

Magic’s prides itself on their fresh and local flavors from farmers across the island. Sushi Shiono has two restaurant locations in Kona and a takeaway counter inside KTA in Kona. This is one of our favorite sushi and Japanese restaurants on Big Island for its delicious fresh and local food and their relaxing, friendly atmosphere. The first restaurant location is off of Ali’i Drive and their second restaurant location, Izakaya Shiono, is in the Brewery Block. We recommend checking out both locations 🙂
