Agent Spotlight: Ryan Dawson

This month we are spotlighting our Principal Broker, Ryan Dawson! Ryan has been a licensed Realtor for ten years, and he is licensed in Michigan and Hawaii. Ryan decided to become a realtor after a friend in the industry asked if he would ever consider jumping into Real Estate. He considers it one of the best decisions of his life, the 5th best decision to be exact.

Before Real Estate, Ryan was in the Navy but never once spent time on a ship. He did however live in a penthouse in Bahrain. After the military Ryan worked at a school for students with severe emotional problems. This is where Ryan made the best decision of his life, meeting and marrying his wife Dulcy (who was a teacher, not a student). Ryan received a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science but he and his wife quickly decided they wanted to open a full scale coffee shop (best decision #4) in a college town and run open mic nights galore. After a few years of pulling espresso shots and two kids later (best decision #2), Ryan and his family moved to Honolulu Hawaii to work with a missions organization. Ryan and Dulcy then helped to open two more coffee shops in rural China. Fast forward to settling down in Michigan to raise 2 fabulous kids, some chickens and a wiener dog named Thor. Apparently after a few years of a typical life Ryan and his family decided to try something new so they moved to Kailua-Kona (best decision #3) where Ryan would land at Luva Real Estate.

For Ryan, the best part about being a Realtor is that he gets to interact with different people from many different areas. Ryan loves working with people and finds it interesting how unpredictable and unique people can be. As a military veteran, nothing makes Ryan happier than being able to help a fellow Veteran realize their dreams of home ownership. Whether he’s helping a close friend or a new connection, Ryan always makes it his goal to understand what it is they really want and need.

Serving others is Ryan’s passion, but his family is his pride and joy. His daughter Vanea attends Hope College in Holland Michigan and his son Eli attends College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Ryan and Dulcy are new to this empty nest thing and can now be found spending a lot of time on their lanai talking to Thor.
