Latest Updates on Traveling to Hawai’i During COVID-19

Whether you are a visitor or a returning resident, Hawai’I is now allowing all arriving trans-Pacific travelers to avoid the 14-day quarantine by testing negative for COVID-19. However, the requirements differ depending on which island you are traveling to. Not to worry! We have broken down the travel requirements by island below to make traveling to Hawaii during COVID more manageable.


Oahu

  • All travelers 18 years of age and older must create an online account and register with the State of Hawai’i’s Safe Travels Program
  • Negative COVID test that must be taken within 72 hours before departure of their final leg of their trip to Hawai’i. The test must be administered by one of 17 different testing partners. This applies to all passengers ages 5 and over, travelers are responsible for payment of test. 


Hawaii Island

  • All travelers 18 years of age and older must create an online account and register with the State of Hawai’i’s Safe Travels Program.
  • Negative COVID test that must be taken within 72 hours before departure of their final leg of their trip to Hawai’i. The test must be administered by one of 17 different testing partners. This applies to all passengers ages 5 and over, travelers are responsible for payment of test.
  • A second test is required and will take place upon arrival to Hawai’I Island at all three airports. The results of the second test will be returned within 15-20 minutes.


Maui

  • All travelers 18 years of age and older must create an online account and register with the State of Hawai’i’s Safe Travels Program.
  • Negative COVID test that must be taken within 72 hours before departure of their final leg of their trip to Hawai’i. The test must be administered by one of 17 different testing partners. This applies to all passengers ages 5 and over, travelers are responsible for payment of test.
  • A second test upon arrival at all Maui airports is voluntary and would take place upon arrival. The results of the second test will be returned within 15-20 minutes.


Kauai

  • All travelers 18 years of age and older must create an online account and register with the State of Hawai’i’s Safe Travels Program.
  • Negative COVID test that must be taken within 72 hours before departure of their final leg of their trip to Hawai’i. The test must be administered by one of 17 different testing partners.
  • A second test upon arrival at all Kauai airports is voluntary and would take place upon arrival. The results of the second test will be returned within 15-20 minutes.

Below is a breakdown by island for travelers going inter-island based on where you are traveling to:

  • Oahu: No test and no quarantine required
  • Hawaii Island: 14-day quarantine still applies
  • Maui: Same requirements as Trans-Pacific travel
  • Kaua’i: Same requirements as Trans-Pacific travel
