June Events
King Kamehameha Day Parade & Festival – June 7, Kailua-Kona
Celebrate the legacy of King Kamehameha I with a colorful parade featuring flower-adorned pa‘u riders, hula halau, marching bands, and more. After the parade, dive into live music, food vendors, and cultural presentations at Hulihe’e Palace. It’s a full day of island pride and tradition.
Hawai’i Kuauli Pacific & Asia Cultural Festival – June 7–9, Kailua-Kona
Experience the rich tapestry of Pacific and Asian cultures through fashion shows, culinary delights, and the thrilling fireknife competition. Held at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel, this festival is a feast for the senses.
Big Island Jazz & Blues Festival – May 31, Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
Kick off the summer with oceanfront performances by Grammy Award winners and jazz legends. Set against the stunning backdrop of the Kohala coast, this festival promises an unforgettable musical experience.
July Events
4th of July Fireworks & Parades – July 4, Kailua-Kona
Experience the magic of Independence Day Hawaiian-style. Enjoy parades, live music, and spectacular fireworks displays along Kailua Bay. It’s the perfect blend of American tradition and island flair.
Turtle Independence Day Celebration – July 4, Mauna Lani
Witness the heartwarming release of baby honu (sea turtles) into the ocean. This ceremonial act signifies ocean conservation and is a must-see for nature lovers.
Experience Volcano Festival – July 26–27, Volcano Village
Immerse yourself in the culture and traditions of the Volcano area. Enjoy music, hula, art demonstrations, food trucks, and more. Most events are free to the public, making it a perfect family outing.
Hilo Brewfest – July 13, Hilo Yacht Club
Sample craft beers from around the country and indulge in local culinary delights. From 2–5 pm, enjoy live music and support local charities in this laid-back, oceanfront setting.
Daifukuji Bon Dance – July (Date TBA), Honalo
Celebrate Japanese culture with traditional Bon dancing, taiko drumming, and community fellowship. Free to the public, this event offers a unique cultural experience.
Other year round events:
- Kanikapila Concert Series: Every 3rd Saturday at Waikoloa Beach Resort. Enjoy free live performances in a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
- Hula Arts at Kilauea: On the third Saturday of each month, experience ancient hula performances and cultural displays at Volcano Art Center.
