With so many visitors and snow birds here escaping the cold of the mainland, February is a busy month for fun events! LUVA Real Estate recommends enjoying not only Hawaii’s signature annual events such as the Cherry Blossom Festival, but the whale watching opportunities now available with thousands of visiting Humpback whales along the Kohala Coast. Asian Fest – Waikoloa Beach Resort

Time for Lions and Taiko Drums! Welcome the Year of the Pig at the exciting “Asian Fest” and celebrate with vibrant Lion Dancers and the driving rhythms of drums from around the world. Annual Waimea Cherry Blossom Heritage Festival

When: February 2, 2019
Where: Waimea
The festival showcases the 60+ year old cherry trees planted at Church Row Park and the Japanese tradition of viewing them – hanami. The festival includes a variety of activities during the day at venues throughout Waimea – look for pink banners identifying site locations from the Parker Ranch Historic Homes on Mamalahoa Hwy. 190 to the Hawaiian Homestead Farmer’s Market on Hwy. 19. Enjoy an all day lineup of Japanese and multi-cultural performing arts, plus hands-on demonstrations of bonsai, origami, traditional tea ceremony, and mochi pounding, and a host of colorful craft fairs. Kekaha Kai Anchialine Pool Workday and Beach Cleanup

When: February 2, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Where: Ka’elehuluhulu Beach in the Mahai’ula Section of the park.

“Culinary Arts Under the Stars” Benefit

When: February 8, 2019 from 5:30-7:30pm
Where: King’s Shops at Waikoloa Village Resort
A benefit for the Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative. Stroll under the stars at Kings’ Shops and sample fine cuisine from local chefs at tasting stations throughout the center. Plant People Road Show

When: February 9, 2019 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Old Airport Beach Park in Kona
Find out from Big Island growers what plant varieties thrive best in your location at the 7th annual Plant People Road Show, from , Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Maka’eo Pavilion at Old Kona Airport State Park. “Talk story” with twelve growers from the island’’s different climates during the sale. 8th Annual Wiliwili Festival

Where: Waikoloa Village
The Waikoloa Dry Forest Initiative will be hosting the annual Wiliwili Festival from at the Waikoloa Stables. The Wiliwili Festival is a fun, free, educational event for all ages and a great opportunity to learn more about the unique environment of Hawai’i island. This year, guided tours of the Waikoloa Dry Forest Preserve, on-site workshops, educational talks, music, food, vendors, and a silent auction will be offered. My Furry Valentine Benefit

When: February 10, 2019 from 2:00-6:00 PM
Where: Shops at Mauna Lani
You and your pup are invited to dress up for Valentine’s Day and join Lava Dogs Hawai’i for a fun afternoon of shopping vendor booths for locally-made products for pets and pet-loving humans. Also, meet specialists who serve Big Island pets for grooming, animal training, and natural healing. Food will be available for sale along with a dog-friendly beer garden sponsored by Big Island Brewhaus with proceeds benefiting Hawai’i Island Humane Society and Aloha Ilio Rescue. Kona Mauka Rotary’s Valentine Wine Tasting Event

Heiva I Hawai’i Tahitian Dance Competition

When: February 15-17, 2019 at 10am to 4pm
Where: Kekuaokalani Gym and field (Kona Community Gym, next to the pool)
Free community event featuring Tahitian groups and soloists competing in dance, drumming and pageant. There will be food and craft vendors, a kids fun zone with inflatable bouncers, and much more. Afternoon at the Palace Concert/hula and Village Stroll

When: February 17, 2019 – Concert from 4-5 pm (the Stroll starts at 1pm & goes till 6pm)

Visitors Aloha Society of Hawaii Benefit Gala – A Tribute to Peggy Lee

When: February 23, 2019 doors open at 5:30, show starts at 6:30
Where: Hilton Waikoloa Village Kona Tap Room
Award-winning, NYC cabaret star, Stacy Sullivan performs “It’s a Good Day, A Tribute to Peggy Lee,” as a benefit for VASH Hawaii Island. Her performance is a journey of discovery through the extraordinary musical legacy of Peggy Lee and the personal struggles of a woman whose voice captivated millions. The classic songs, intricate rhythms, and exquisite arrangements that defined her career are elegantly portrayed in this loving homage, created with seasoned jazz master Jon Weber.

Show price of $75. includes heavy pupus and free self-parking! Doors open at 5:30 for food, drinks and silent auction. This event is a benefit for VASH Hawaii Island. VASH shares the aloha spirit and provides emergency assistance to visitors affected by adversities such as crime victimization, medical emergencies or the death of a loved one.
