Local Business Spotlight: Sushi Shiono

This entry was posted in Local Business Spotlight on .

Sushi Shiono is a sushi and Japanese restaurant with a modern and casual vibe in Kona on the Big Island. Sushi Shiono now has two restaurant locations and a bento style takeout counter inside KTA in Kailua Kona. The atmosphere at both restaurants is relaxing and friendly, and its part of what keeps many locals coming back!

The flagship location is off Ali’I Drive in the Historic Kailua Village and has been operating since 2003. The second restaurant, Izakaya Shiono, opened more recently in 2021 and is in Kona’s newest gathering place, Brewery Block.  The experienced chefs have been highly trained at world famous sushi restaurants like Toyosu and the expertise is easy to see in their sushi creations and other Japanese dishes.  Sushi Shiono main focus is of course sushi, and they are proud to use high quality, fresh seafood sourced locally from Big Island or from Japan and other parts of the world. They know that high quality ingredients are important, and they only use the best including sea urchin from Hokkaido, King Salmon from Scotland, Yellowtail/Hamachi and Bluefin from Japan and Abalone and Kampachi from Kona. While Izakaya Shiono still has the same great quality sushi their menu features many authentic Japanese dishes like homemade ramen noodles, dim sum, and a large sake assortment.

If you are going during dinner hours, we recommend making a reservation in advance! Check out their menus and find out more about Sushi Shiono here.
